Introduction:
| The COVID-19 pandemic has made it abundantly clear that mathematical modeling is an indispensable tool for public health professionals and decision-makers. Optimal management of any infectious disease requires the synchronization of epidemiological and immunological findings. To this end, we have organized a special session featuring renowned scientists in the field of mathematical modeling of infectious diseases. Our aim is to showcase their latest research on the spread of diseases in the population, as well as the human immune system (adaptive and humoral). The contributors will employ a variety of mathematical approaches, including ordinary and delay differential equations, partial differential equations, hybrid models, and optimal control approaches.
